Minimum Qualifications:
Age: Not less than 17 years of age (Proof of age required, i.e. drivers license) Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalency (provide copy) Other: Must secure full-time employment in an ACF Colorado Chefs Association Approved Sponsoring House only by the Application Closing Date. The Apprenticeship Committee cannot act as an employment service.

ACF Colorado Chefs Association Apprenticeship Program Frequently Asked Questions
What is apprenticeship? Apprenticeship is a hands-on, real world education method. Apprenticeship has been in existence for multiple trades for hundreds of years. Colorado has had its apprenticeship program since the 1970’s.
Do I get paid for the hours I work? Yes! You’ll be paid, based on your experience, for every hour you work.
How often will I take classes? You will attend class one night per week in Denver, Colorado.
What are the requirements to enter the program? You must be 17 or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent. You will also be required to secure employment in an Approved Sponsoring House, i.e. Hotels, Denver area country clubs, etc.
Do I have to have any previous restaurant experience? No. Your chef will teach you everything you’ll need to know.
How much does the apprenticeship program cost? The tuition for a two year program is $2500 a year. This includes all of your classes, books, uniform, kitchen supplies, and American Culinary Federation Junior Membership Dues. Many of the sponsoring establishments will reimburse all or part of your tuition.
What will I have earned upon my graduation? You will have 42 semester credit hours transferable to any Colorado community college. You will have earned your American Culinary Federation Certified Culinarian or Pastry Cook designation. The American Culinary Federation and the US Department of Labor Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training will also give you certificates of completion.
How do I apply to the apprenticeship program? Please call Kari Jensen to make an appointment to fill out an application. There is a $50 application fee that is applicable towards your tuition. Completed applications and the first year tuition (full tuition-$50 app fee) are due at the beginning of June.
