Chef Essig, CEC

Chef Essig has over 27 years’ experience in the foodservice industry. He received his degree in Culinary Arts from the Colorado Institute of Art in Denver Colorado and has been the Executive Chef of the University of Northern Colorado since1998.

He is an approved instructor for the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation, ServSafe Instructor, Certified Executive Chef (CEC), Certified Culinary Administrator (CCA), Master Trainer for AllerTrain programs, has served as Educational Fund President, Certification Chairman, and Past President for the American Culinary Federation. He is currently the ACFCCA’s Treasurer. Chef Essig has won numerous cooking competitions and also coaches staff members to compete in ACF sanctioned competitions. He is an active member in the community and serves on many advisory teams and is a board member for the Greeley Creative District.

At UNC Chef Essig coordinates creation of menus for three dining rooms as well as catering, is responsible for recipe development, training and staff development programs, safety and sanitation, and emergency response procedures for the department.
